What is calibration and why do I need it?
Definition: Calibration is the act of checking instrumentation under test to a known standard.
Purpose: Overall, the goal of Calibration is the minimize measurement uncertainty by ensuring accuracy of the instrumentation.

Can I purchase the equipment to calibrate my DTS DAS?
No. DTS uses Proprietary Equipment and Software to perform Calibration on our Data Acquisition Systems.
How do I send my equipment in for Calibration?
There are two (2) methods you can use to Request Calibration Services for your Equipment:
What work is performed when I send my DAS in for Calibration?
The following actions are performed during the Calibration Process
- Visual Inspection
- As-Found Calibration
- Firmware Updates
- SLICE and Newer Units will have Firmware Updated to the Current Release Version.
- TDAS Firmware is not updated unless Requested by the Customer.
- If Unit is found to have 50% or Greater of the Allowed Tolerance, Unit will be adjusted and an As-Returned Calibration will be performed.
- Units that have Batteries will have them replaced.
- NOTE: This does not include Smart Batteries, Crash Batteries, or Power PRO. Replacement of these batteries is not on a set interval and is an extra charge.
Do you calibrate other manufacturer's DAS?
Do you calibrate other manufacturer's Sensors?
We calibrate some other manufacturer's ARS and Single-Axis Accelerometers. Contact Customer Service with specific requests.
Do you calibrate load cells?
No. DTS does not currently have the equipment to test loadcells.
What is the standard turnaround time for Calibration?
DTS tries to complete calibrations within five (5) business days. However, depending on workload, calibrations can take up to two (2) weeks.

Is DTS performing on-site calibrations?
DTS does offer on-site calibrations at an extra cost. DTS-MI offers weekend calibration in place of on-site calibration.
If you would like to pursue this option, please contact us at least 30 days prior to expected date of calibration.
What is the recommended calibration interval for DTS equipment?
We recommend items be sent in for calibration annually.
If I send an item in for repair, does it have to be calibrated?
Yes. ISO17025 requires calibration be performed on repaired items.
Is DTS accredited for Calibration?
DTS is accredited to IS17025.
We are audited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).
