A breakdown of the difference between RS-422 and RS-232 connections, both of which are supported by the SLICE6 AIR.
- The built-in transceiver supports both RS-422 and RS-232 signal levels without any reconfiguration.
- RS-422 signals are differential and must be connected to both the UART +(RX_P) and - (RX_N) pins.
- RS-232 signals are single-ended, meaning a moving signal referenced to ground. This type of input should be connected only to the RX_N pin. (The RX_P pin is internally pulled to a soft ground when not connected.)
