A 16-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) provides excellent resolution, but what overall accuracy can you expect when using a 16-bit DAS such as the SLICE MICRO, NANO or IP68? These systems all employ 16-bit ADCs with rated Integral Non-Linearity (INL) of approximately +/-2x the LSB (Least Significant Bit). However, each measurement channel also includes a differential instrumentation amplifier, gain & offset circuits, and anti-alias filters. The performance of each section contributes to overall performance, and the combined effects on the entire signal chain are shown on the product datasheet as linearity and/or accuracy.
