Sensor ID is also referred to as Electronic Identification (EID). The EID function in DTS hardware/software allows automated assignment of the sensor when connected to a DAS sensor input channel. SLICE PRO, SLICE NANO/MICRO, TDAS G5 and TDAS PRO (SIM, TOM, DIM) support this scheme.
A typical SLICE MICRO/NANO application uses the DS2401 1-wire EID from Maxim (see Maxim DS2401). To improve installation, DTS provides EID "microcards" comprised of chip scale package DS2401 soldered to a circuit board that is potted with wires attached (see below).
The ARS3 PRO and 6DX PRO sensors include the EID for each sensor channel. If your DAS hardware and software support EID, this information can be read automatically and correlate the serial number with channel set-up information stored in your sensor information file or test set-up. The sensor ID is not required for the sensor to function correctly.
Using DTS software (DataPRO, SLICEWare, and TDAS Control) with EIDs installed
- Assigning IDs with DataPRO
- Adding the EID to a sensor: Sensor Database tile -->Measure Bridges & Read IDs
- Select the connected hardware
- Select Read IDs
- Drag sensors from the Channel list on the right to the ID on the left
- Select Save
- Adding the EID to a sensor: Sensor Database tile -->Measure Bridges & Read IDs
- Assigning IDs with SLICEWare
- Adding the EID to a sensor: SLICEWare-->PREPARE-->Read ID
- Select the DAS channel on the right where the sensor is plugged in
- Select the sensor from the list of sensors in the left pane
- Read ID will apply the ID to the selected sensor
- The right hand pane New ID will be replaced by the sensor description
- Sensors with IDs will be automatically added to the list of channels when the SLICE boots or after clicking 'Refresh'
- Sensors that have EID cannot be manually assigned to a SLICE channel if the EID fails
- If the ID fails, delete the ID from the sensor setting to manually assign
- Adding the EID to a sensor: SLICEWare-->PREPARE-->Read ID
- Sensor IDs Already Assigned in SLICEWare
- Boot it up and run
- Double check the ‘connected’ sensors to ensure the channel count matches what you expect
- If a sensor ID is not read when expected or the ID fails and you need to run a test
- Delete the ID from the sensor setting and manually apply the sensor to the desired channel
- It is critical to use the Prepare-->Backup to preserve a copy of the sensor database before you make any modifications. This will copy all of the current sensor settings
- Some IDs in TDAS PRO or G5 with TDAS Control
- Setup-->Options-->Sensor ID = ON
- Open an individual SIF file to read the IDs and apply to the Sensor Information File
- The ID feature can be used to build a test in the Test Setup GUI using “Locate Sensor ID"
- This will automatically populate channels in the TSF
- Sensors with and without EID can be manually installed into a TSF (different from SLICEWare behavior)
- TDC will check to ensure that the IDs match what is in the TSF
- To over-ride EID check change the Setup-->Options-->Sensor ID option to OFF
- This will ignore the EIDs
