It is very important that the spring-loaded contacts of the interposer are clean, providing good connections to the TDAS G5 DAS Module. The contacts should be inspected every time a TDAS G5 DAS Module is installed, and cleaned, if necessary, according to the following procedure.
Contact cleaning should also be the first step in any troubleshooting of data problems. Do not attempt to disassemble the interposer - it contains over 400 parts which could fall out of place if the screws are removed which hold the interposer block to the circuit board.
The following supplies are recommended to properly clean interposers:
1. Low-pressure compressed air in aerosol can. Aero-Duster
2. Denatured Alcohol solvent. Do not use spray solvents.
3. Lint-free Polyurethane swabs (McMaster 7074T7). Do not use cotton-tipped swabs.
After removing the TDAS-G5 DAS module from the docking station, moisten a polyurethane swab with denatured alcohol. There should not be excessive alcohol in the swab, just moist. Carefully, with a rotating motion, clean each row of contacts on the interposer, changing swabs as needed. Inspect the contacts with a magnifying glass or microscope for any debris. Repeat cleaning process if necessary. Do not use metal tools or probes to dislodge any foreign material. If necessary, the wooden end of the swab can be used for such purposes.
Using low pressure air, blow any fibers or dust away which may be left on the interposer or docking station. Again, inspect with magnifying glass before replacing TDAS G5 module.
The same procedure can be used to clean the gold contacts on the TDAS G5.
