DTS customers are using TDAS and SLICE on electric and hybrid vehicles every day.
To allow safe measurement of high voltages, DTS manufactures "Voltage Range Expanders" with designs to safely record up to 800V. Contact DTS Sales or Support for additional information. The range expander will work with any DTS DAS and are immune to polarity reversal.
If excessive voltages are not applied directly to the TDAS connectors, DTS DAS systems operate normally in electric vehicles.
Excessive or harmful voltages are:
- >+/-5V (with respect to TDAS Chassis) on any sensor input connection (+/-Exc and +/-Sig)
- >15V on power input pins
- Never apply voltage to the “contact only” Event input
- The +V input power lines to TDAS must NOT be connected to TDAS chassis.
A short in the HV battery system could introduce noise in DAS channels, but it’s unlikely to damage the DAS.
HV battery systems are designed to remain isolated during a crash event.
